Optimize Your Server Hardware For Drupal

Posted in

In the area of Drupal performance tuning, server hardware often receives little or no attention, and the possibilities of server-grade flash storage are still completely overlooked. Here I put the spotlight on hardware trends from the past 12 months and explore what it might mean for Drupal performance. This was one of my presentations at SANDcamp 2010 and resonated well with attendees.

Blocking spam with Mollom

Spam statistics per May 21, 2010. Mollom works!

I noticed my site was getting hammered with comment spam attempts over the past two days. To ease participation and interactivity, I have comments open to anyone who cares to leave a comment (not that it happens often). To prevent waves of spam I use the Mollom module, and it works absolutely great.

DrupalCamp LA 2009

Drupal Camp Los Angeles 2009 - August 8-9th While I loved Drupal at first sight - what's not to like about its clean design and powerful options? -, I definitely and permamnently got hooked at DrupalCamp LA 2008 thanks to the cool vibe and amazing energy among the 450+ participants and the great reception of my presentation. It also started my active involvement in the Drupal community, and so it is a foregone conclusion that I will go again this year. I will be presenting a revised version of Image Handling with ImageField and ImageCache - Regain Sanity and Control.

DrupalCamp San Diego - Learn, share, be inspired

SANDcamp (aka DrupalCamp San Diego) will take place Jan. 24 and 25, 2009 at Platt College. This will be a great place to meet other people using Drupal, and you can learn from experienced Drupalers about all those features you always wanted to check out (and which to avoid!) as you expand and grow your site.

Of special interest to newcomers and intermediate Drupal users is a tightly linked series of sessions, starting with The One Hour Web Site and progressing through various add-on module sessions, letting you build your own, solid, feature-rich site using current best practices.

I will be presenting a few sessions:

Dialog Consulting is a proud sponsor of SANDcamp 2009.

Over the weekend of Sept. 13/14 I attended DrupalCampLA, a gathering of Drupal aficionados from all over Southern California and beyond. A truly amazing and empowering experience!

My talk 3 Months Later: An (Almost) Beginners View of Drupal was very well received and gave me a major confidence boost. Victor Kane blogged about my talk here. How cool is that?
